How to Test Your Mouse Online

Use this free mouse test online to check whether each button and the scroll wheel register in your browser. It is a mouse checker for basic hardware input, not a speed contest.

Buttons

Mouse Button Test

A mouse button test (also called a mouse buttons test or mouse button checker) confirms that each physical button reaches the browser. Use it to test mouse buttons one at a time.

Left and right

Left is the primary click. Right is context-menu click; this page blocks the menu inside the tool so you can still run a mouse click test on the right button.

Middle button

Middle is usually the wheel click. Some browsers also use it for auto-scroll or open-in-new-tab; the test area blocks those actions while you check the button.

Side buttons

Button 4 / Back and Button 5 / Forward are common on gaming and productivity mice. Browser and OS support can vary; if a side button never lights up, try another browser or computer before assuming a hardware fault.

What this mouse click tester does not do

It does not measure CPS, polling rate, or click latency. For report rate (Hz), use themouse polling rate test. For speed, use theclick speed test. For accidental double-clicking, use the fullDouble Click Test.

Scroll

Test Your Mouse Scroll Wheel

This page only checks whether Scroll Up and Scroll Down are detected. That is enough for a basic mouse check when the wheel feels dead or unresponsive.

What is covered

Direction detection for vertical scroll. Each direction is tracked separately so one-way failures are visible.

What is not covered

Scroll speed, skip detection, ghost or reverse scrolling, and horizontal scroll analysis are not part of this basic check. Those live on the dedicated Scroll Wheel Test.

Need deeper scroll diagnosis?

Open the Scroll Wheel Test → for direction counts, scroll speed, skipping and reverse-event detection, and horizontal scrolling.

If one direction never responds, clean the wheel and the sensor slot, replug the cable or receiver, and retest on another computer. A direction that lights up here but misbehaves in apps usually points to drivers or app settings rather than a dead wheel.

Some mice register two clicks from one physical press. This tool shows a simple double-click detection note when the same button fires again unusually quickly.

How to read it

Intervals of 50 ms or less are flagged as double-click candidates. Between 50 ms and 100 ms is a fast repeat worth reviewing. Longer gaps are treated as ordinary single clicks.

This is only a lightweight signal inside the mouse tester. It does not replace the fullDouble Click Test, which collects a larger sample of presses for a more reliable result.

Common Mouse Problems

Use this mouse check first, then narrow the issue. Many problems look like hardware wear but come from software, power, or the specific app.
